# Buying a counterfeit watch or garment in Italy: what the law says for buyers

A clarification: the new EU customs duty of 3 euros per item on small consignments ([explained here, originally written in German](https://superreps.net/t/eu-customs-duty-3-euro-per-item-type-parcels-under-150-euro/433)) is a different rule, about customs duties and not about counterfeiting. Counterfeit goods remain prohibited whatever their value.
