No Air Max 95 QC thread yet, so here’s one. Background: the 95 was designed by Sergio Lozano and released in 1995, with a design taken from human anatomy. The midsole stands for the spine, the layered side panels for muscles and the lace loops for ribs. It was also the first Air Max with visible Air in the forefoot as well as the heel. The original “Neon” colourway pairs grey gradient panels with neon yellow accents.

That gives three QC zones: the panels, the Air windows and the midsole.

The side panels carry the shoe:

- each layer should follow a smooth wave, with no flat sections or kinks;
- the gradient goes from dark at the bottom to light at the top, so check the layers step evenly in shade;
- stitching along the edges of each layer should be even, close to the edge, with no loose threads where layers overlap.
Compare the wave shape with retail reference photos from the same side, because the lateral and medial sides differ.

Air windows: the units in the heel and forefoot should be clear, not foggy or yellowish, and sit cleanly in the midsole without glue showing at the edges. On a side shot, check the forefoot window has the right size relative to the toe box; a window that looks small or shifted is easy to spot next to a reference photo.

Newbie question: is there anything that stands out on the 95 the way the bubble does on other Air Max models?

The midsole shape. The “spine” is the most recognisable line of the shoe from the side: check that it runs smoothly from toe to heel and that the colour blocking on it lines up with the panels above. Comparisons with the 97 and the 90 help to see what’s specific to each model: [Air Max 97 QC](https://superreps.net/t/air-max-97-qc-wave-lines-full-length-air-reflective-piping/31690) and [Air Max 90 QC](https://superreps.net/t/air-max-90-qc-air-bubble-mudguard-heel-logo/413).

Heel and tongue:

1. “Air Max” branding on the heel and tongue: sharp letters, centred, same font as reference photos.
2. Heel pull tab sewn straight.
3. Tongue padding even, no lumps.
4. Lace loops along the eyelet row evenly spaced and at the same height on both shoes.

Toe box: check that the material transitions where the toe meets the first panel are clean, with no puckering or glue marks. Summary:

1. Side panels: smooth waves, even gradient steps, clean stitching at the edges.
2. Air windows in heel and forefoot: clear, cleanly set, correct size and position.
3. “Spine” midsole: smooth line, colour blocking aligned with the panels.
4. Heel and tongue branding sharp and centred; pull tab straight.
5. Toe box transitions clean, no puckering.
Not checkable on photos: cushioning, durability of the Air units and glue strength.

Thanks. Point 1 is where most pairs show their differences, so the side shots come first.
