# Black Bay 54, 58 or 39: which Tudor size reps best, and where does each one fall short?

Short version for anyone landing here:

1. **BB58:** the most mature rep of the three. Known weak spots (marker alignment, crown tube, movement). Wears like a modern 39mm diver. Safest choice. See the [first-rep thread](https://superreps.net/t/which-first-rep-model-is-the-safest-to-learn-on-and-why-do-people-keep-saying-sub-seamaster-or-black-bay/98), where it’s on the shortlist for the same reason.
2. **BB54:** the best proportions for small wrists (37mm, about 46mm lug to lug, about 11.2mm thick). Check index straightness, pip position and lume colour match in QC. Expect a stiff bezel and fiddly bracelet screws.
3. **BB39:** the least mature. Confirm that the piece really is the 39 and measure it, because at least one owner received something that felt closer to 41.

And on “homage or rep”: some people in these threads say a Tudor-style homage covers the same look with no worries. That’s a fair choice, but it’s a different hobby question. This thread is about which rep size holds up.
