Bracelet sizing is the first thing every new owner hits, and the threads are full of scratched screws and lost pins. What’s the right way? Which side do you take links from? (If some of the shorthand below is new, the [glossary for newcomers](https://superreps.net/t/glossary-for-newcomers-gl-rl-qc-gen-td-and-all-the-other-shorthand/135) helps.)

Build-log style:

1. Get a proper screwdriver that fits the screw slot exactly. A wrong-size one is what chews screws.
2. Tape the bracelet around the screw area.
3. Work on a soft mat or towel, so nothing rolls away.

And for pin bracelets, a pin pusher. Plus: easy. Minus: pins fly off if you push them sideways.

Side question: which side? I see people saying the 6 o’clock side first.

That’s the usual recommendation: remove links from the 6 o’clock side first, so the clasp sits centred under the wrist. Then fine-tune using the holes in the clasp.

A technical tip: if a screw won’t move, don’t force it. Stop. In the threads, a lot of ruined screws come from exactly that. A drop of threadlocker when you put it back together helps.

And if the clasp has Glidelock or Easylink, you’ve got a bit of extra on-the-fly adjustment for warm days.

How snug should it be?

The general rule in those threads: you should be able to slide a finger under it, and it shouldn’t slide over the wrist bone.

Full build log for bracelet sizing:

1. **Tools** : a screwdriver that fits the slot exactly, or a pin pusher for pin bracelets. Tape and a soft mat.
2. **Take links from the 6 side first** , then balance with the 12 side if needed. That keeps the clasp centred.
3. **Screws** : no force. If one is stuck, stop. Use a drop of threadlocker when reassembling.
4. **Microadjust** : use the clasp holes for the final fit.
5. **Glidelock or Easylink** , if present, give on-the-fly comfort.
6. **Fit check** : one finger under the bracelet, and it shouldn’t slide over the wrist bone.

Tip for your own photos: lay the bracelet on a soft mat with the 6 o’clock side marked and the screwdriver next to it, so others can follow which link you worked on.

Keep the removed links and screws in a small bag. To clean the bracelet afterwards, the [bracelet and crystal cleaning thread](https://superreps.net/it/t/pulizia-di-bracciale-e-vetro-cosa-usa-la-community-e-cosa-e-ancora-da-verificare/20) covers what people use.

Learned: 1) right tools, 2) 6 side first, 3) never force a screw. Thanks modbench, uhrenfuchs, bilanciere!
