In most QC threads, the dial gets nearly all the attention. The bracelet gets one line, if that. But the bracelet is the part you touch every day, and on Rolex reps it’s where a lot of the long-term complaints come from. This thread covers the Oyster and the Jubilee, the clasps that come with them, and the end links.

</div>

Basic question first: what’s actually the difference between Oyster, Jubilee and President?

**Oyster**
Three-piece links: a wide flat centre link and two outer links. Sporty, and the most common.

**Jubilee**
Five-piece links: small polished centre links between the outer ones. Dressier and more flexible on the wrist, and it shows finishing quality more, since there are more polished surfaces.

**President**
Three-piece semi-circular links, mainly on the Day-Date. Usually with a hidden clasp.

The clasp depends on the model as much as the bracelet: a Datejust and a Submariner on an Oyster bracelet have different clasps.

On the clasp itself, here is what to check, model by model:

- **Engraving** : the crown on the cover should be crisp and centred. Blurry edges are easy to see in a straight-on photo.
- **Snap** : the clasp should close with a firm click. Ask for a short video; a still photo can’t show it.
- **Side play** : hold the bracelet closed and push the clasp gently sideways. A little movement is normal, a lot isn’t.
- **Safety lock** : on sports models with a hinged safety lock, check it closes flush.

And Glidelock and Easylink? Do they actually work on reps, or are they just shapes?

It varies, which is why a video beats any description. On the genuine pieces: Glidelock, on divers like the Submariner, slides the bracelet inside the clasp in small steps without tools; Easylink, on many Oyster bracelets, folds out a short extra link for comfort on hot days. On a rep, check that Glidelock moves through all its positions and locks in each one, and that Easylink opens and closes cleanly without forcing. A Glidelock that only moves in two or three positions, or that slips, is a real defect.

Verdict first: the end links are the most underrated check on this list.

The end link joins the bracelet to the case. On a good one there’s no visible gap, and it doesn’t rattle. Look at it from the side and from above:

- a light gap between the end link and the case is the most common flaw;
- a gap on one side only usually means the spring bar or the end link is slightly off;
- rattling can sometimes be fixed with a different spring bar, sometimes not.

Comparisons like [Datejust 41 VSF vs Clean](https://superreps.net/t/datejust-41-vsf-vs-clean-bezel-and-lugs-or-crystal-and-movement/127) show how much the lugs and end links shape the overall impression.

What can be fixed afterwards, and what can’t?

**Fixable with an adjustment**

- Length: remove or add links. How to do it without scratches is in the [bracelet sizing thread](https://superreps.net/t/how-do-i-size-a-bracelet-without-scratching-it-which-side-do-links-come-off/318).
- A slightly loose clasp: sometimes tightened by a watchmaker.
- A rattling end link: sometimes solved with a better-fitting spring bar.

**Not really fixable**

- Blurry clasp engraving.
- A Glidelock that slips or skips positions.
- Poor polishing on Jubilee centre links.
- An end link that doesn’t follow the case shape.

**What to ask for in QC**

1. Straight-on photo of the clasp cover.
2. Side photo of the end links.
3. A short video: clasp closing, Glidelock or Easylink in use, bracelet flexing.

Worth adding: bracelets wear in. Pins and links loosen a little over months, which is normal. The [everyday habits guide](https://superreps.net/t/guide-everyday-habits-that-keep-a-rep-watch-running-magnets-knocks-the-crown-and-storage/345) has the basic care, and the [Submariner QC thread](https://superreps.net/t/submariner-126610ln-qc-which-worries-are-real-and-which-are-just-the-camera/125) covers the Oysterlock clasp in photos.
