There is already a thread on the Seamaster Diver 300M, but none on the Planet Ocean 600M. It’s worth having one, because it is a different watch from the 300M: 43.5 mm case, helium valve at 10, unidirectional ceramic bezel (orange on some versions, for example), date at 3, display caseback. All details a QC photo can show well, as long as you know what to look at. Let’s start with the valve, because it’s the side detail you notice first.

Helium valve, points to check:

- shape and size in proportion to the case;
- position at 10, aligned with the case band;
- engravings or text crisp, not mushy.
Importance rating: 7/10, because it shows well on photos but is rarely the only problem.

Pros of the ceramic bezel: even colour, crisp engraved numerals, a glossy surface without haze.
Cons: on photos the colour changes a lot with the light, orange especially. A bezel that looks dull on one photo can be perfect in daylight.
So judge the sharpness of the numerals, not the colour.

- Date at 3: cleanly cut window, numeral centred.
- Markers and hands: even lume, clean edges.
- Depth rating text on the dial: straight, even characters.
- Bezel at zero: the triangle exactly above the 12 o’clock marker.

Quick question in table form, it’s clearer:

| What | From the photo | On the wrist |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Helium valve | shape and position | not how it works |
| Bezel | sharpness, alignment | clicks and play |
| Water resistance | nothing | only with a test |

Is that right?

Yes, the table is correct. There is a dedicated thread on bezel clicks and play, [Bezel action on rep divers](https://superreps.net/t/rep-diver-bezel-action-clicks-back-play-misaligned-pip-fix/354). On water resistance, what was said in [Swimming with a rep diver](https://superreps.net/t/rep-diver-swimming-pressure-test-water-resistance-gaskets/101) applies: the text on the dial says nothing about the piece in your hand, and a photo says even less.

</div>

For anyone torn between the two: the 300M also has the valve at 10, but you recognise it straight away by its wave dial, as explained in [Seamaster Diver 300M QC](https://superreps.net/t/seamaster-diver-300m-qc-wave-dial-helium-valve-ceramic-bezel/407). The way you read the photos stays the same; the details to look for change.

</div>

Recap, in order of priority:

1. Helium valve at 10: shape, position, crisp engravings.
2. Ceramic bezel: crisp numerals and alignment at zero; colour is judged in daylight.
3. Date at 3: clean window, numeral centred.
4. Dial: even lume, straight text.
5. Display caseback: clean, no dust under the crystal.
Not checkable on photos: water resistance, how the valve works, bezel clicks.

Agree with all of it. I’d just add: ask for the photos without flash, because flash makes the ceramic almost unrecognisable.
