We already have threads on the [Royal Oak 15500](https://superreps.net/t/royal-oak-15500-qc-photos-what-to-check-after-apsf/104) and on the [15510 vs 15500 comparison](https://superreps.net/t/royal-oak-15510-vs-15500-what-changed-on-a-rep/351), but the current 41 mm chronograph is missing. Here is what Audemars Piguet lists for reference 26240ST.OO.1320ST.06 on its own product page:

- 41 mm steel case, 12.4 mm thick, water resistant to 50 m
- glareproofed sapphire crystal and caseback, screw-locked crown
- black “Grande Tapisserie” dial, black counters, white gold applied hour-markers, Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating
- steel bracelet with AP folding clasp
- selfwinding Calibre 4401: flyback chronograph, hours, minutes, small seconds and date, 70 hours of power reserve, 4 Hz

AP describes it as the latest evolution of the Royal Oak design.

The dial is where photos help most:

1. **Grande Tapisserie** : the small squares should be regular and aligned across the whole dial, including near the counters and the date. Crooked rows or squashed squares at the edges show up well in a close-up.
2. **Counters** : compare the distance of each counter from the centre and from the edge with images of the same reference.
3. **Applied markers** : they should be straight, with sharp edges and the same height.
4. **Date** : check that the window is centred and that the numeral is centred in the window.

Newbie question: with the sapphire caseback you can see the movement. So is a photo of the back enough to tell whether the calibre is the right one?

No. The display back only shows what the movement looks like: rotor shape, bridges, decoration. A photo cannot confirm Calibre 4401, the flyback function, the 50 m water resistance or the timekeeping. For the functions you need a video: start, stop and reset of the chronograph. The [thread on hands not returning to zero](https://superreps.net/t/chronograph-hands-not-returning-to-zero-reset-qc-video/31686) explains what is normal and what isn’t.

What the photo of the back can show is whether the construction matches the official images of the same reference, for example the rotor shape and the layout of the bridges.

Then the case, which says a lot on a Royal Oak:

- octagonal bezel with its eight screws: the heads should be aligned consistently with the images of the reference
- alternating brushed and polished surfaces on bezel, case and bracelet: the transitions should be sharp
- side profile with a caliper (AP lists the thickness as 12.4 mm)

And the bracelet? Is there anything specific to look at?

AP lists a steel bracelet with AP folding clasp. In photos:

- the links taper towards the clasp: check that the taper is gradual and symmetrical
- the brushing and polishing on the links should have sharp borders
- the joint between bracelet and case shouldn’t leave visible gaps from the side

Summary for the 26240ST.OO.1320ST.06, based on AP’s listing:

1. Case: steel, 41 mm, 12.4 mm thick, screw-locked crown. Check the side profile and the caliper.
2. Dial: black “Grande Tapisserie”, black counters, white gold markers, luminescent Royal Oak hands. Check the regularity of the pattern, the position of the counters and a centred date.
3. Octagonal bezel with screws and alternating finishes: compare with images of the same reference.
4. Steel bracelet with AP folding clasp: gradual taper and sharp borders between finishes.
5. The sapphire caseback shows what the movement looks like, not the calibre.
6. Photos don’t confirm Calibre 4401, the flyback, water resistance or timekeeping. For the functions you need a video.

Thanks. Point 5 was exactly my doubt: the display back shows a lot, but it isn’t enough to confirm the calibre.
