A worn heel photo is more useful when it has a baseline. This simple record helps separate visible changes from impressions about durability.

## Start before the first wear

Photograph both outsoles, both heels and the sidewalls in dry, clean conditions. Include one wider picture and a close-up of the area you want to track. Keep the originals; a sharpened screenshot can exaggerate texture.

## Count use honestly

Record the date, approximate wears, typical surfaces and whether the shoes were rotated. “Three months old” might mean ten wears or ninety. If you cannot count precisely, give a range. Repeat the same angles and lighting rather than comparing a bright new-shoe photo with a dark hallway shot.

## Describe what the pictures show

Use **location | visible change | first noticed | effect during use**. Distinguish surface scuffing from a separated edge. If a separation appears, photograph it at rest without pulling it farther apart for the camera.

One pair cannot establish the lifespan of an entire model or batch. Uneven wear also cannot diagnose posture or a medical condition. Share the record as an observation, and stop using footwear that feels unstable instead of continuing a test just to finish the review.
