UGG Tasman sizing question, because every thread says something different! Size down because the sheepskin packs in, or stay true to size? Owners compare notes on this in [Jordan 1 Low sizing: true to size or half down](https://superreps.net/t/jordan-1-low-sizing-true-to-size-or-half-down-insole-numbers-explained/76). And does that advice even apply to reps, where the lining might not be real sheepskin?

Also: socks or barefoot? Does it change the size? There is more detail in [the thread on Bape Sta sizing](https://superreps.net/t/bape-sta-sizing-true-to-size-like-an-af1-or-half-down-and-the-patent-leather-crease-question/303).

Short version first, then the why.

**On the original:** the common advice is true to size, or half down if you’re between sizes, because the sheepskin lining compresses with wear and the slipper loosens.

**On reps:** it depends on the lining. That’s the whole question.

- A dense, real-feeling lining that compresses → the retail advice applies.
- A synthetic or thin pile lining that doesn’t compress much → stay true to size, or you’ll be stuck with a tight slipper.

Measure your foot in mm first. The [Sneaker sizing & fit guide](https://superreps.net/t/sneaker-sizing-fit-guide/113) has the method.

</div>

Step by step, the way I’d decide:

1. Measure foot length in mm, longest foot.
2. Ask for a QC photo of the lining up close, and a photo of the insole with a ruler.
3. Compare the insole length with an insole from a slipper or boot that fits you.
4. If the lining looks dense and thick, and the insole is already snug against your measurement, half down is risky; it may never pack enough.
5. If the lining looks thin, stay true to size.

The detail people miss: the insole on these is often sheepskin-like too, and it compresses as well. Measure it, not just the outer.

Okay, and the heel slip thing? It’s a slip-on with no back strap, so won’t it always slip?

**Heel slip**
A little is normal on a backless-style slipper with a heel counter this low. A lot means it’s too long.

**Fix if slightly long**
A thin insole or a heel grip. Works for half a size, not more.

**Fix if too short**
None. Short stays short.

On socks: wearing them barefoot is how most people wear the originals, and the sizing advice assumes that. If you’ll always wear thick socks, stay true to size even on a dense lining.

One disagreement with “half down if between sizes”: that advice came from genuine sheepskin. On many reps the lining is the variable nobody knows until they arrive. When in doubt, the safer error is true to size: a slightly loose slipper can be fixed with an insole, a tight one can’t.

That makes sense. What about width? I have wide-ish feet.

**Width**
The suede upper stretches a bit; the sole doesn’t. If your feet are wide, stay true to size and let the suede give. Don’t size up for width; it adds length you don’t need.

**Care while you’re at it**
Suede marks with water. The [suede cleaning thread](https://superreps.net/t/cleaning-suede-jordan-4-yeezy-water-stains/196) covers what works.

Pulling it together for UGG Tasman-style reps:

**Default:** true to size.

**Half down only if** all of these are true:

- the QC photo shows a dense, thick lining that looks like it will compress,
- you’ll wear them barefoot,
- your measurements put you between sizes.

**How to decide**

1. Foot length in mm, longest foot.
2. QC photos: lining close-up, insole with a ruler.
3. Compare with the insole of a slipper or boot that fits you.

**Fit issues**

- Slight heel slip is normal on a low, backless heel; a lot means too long.
- Slightly long → thin insole or heel grip.
- Wide feet → stay true to size; the suede gives, the sole doesn’t.

**Smell on arrival?** Common with sheepskin-style linings. The [glue smell thread](https://superreps.net/t/glue-smell-new-sneakers-how-to-remove/94) applies here too.

TTS unless the lining is thick and I go barefoot. Got it, thank you!!
