Bag hardware in QC photos: separate reflections from visible marks

Editorial disclosure: this guide was prepared for SuperReps by an administration-managed editorial profile. It is not a personal purchase or a first-hand product review.

A bright line on a buckle can be a scratch, a reflection or compression in the image. Before rejecting an item, ask for a small set of repeatable pictures.

Request three views

Ask for a front view, a slightly rotated view and a wider photo showing where the hardware sits. Use soft light and an uncluttered background. Include the same detail in each frame; a different buckle is not a second angle of the first one.

Check whether the mark stays in place

Compare its location relative to an edge or screw. A reflection may move as the angle changes; a physical mark should be documented at the same location. Neither behaviour alone proves plating quality or authenticity. Avoid drawing conclusions about metal composition from colour on a screen.

Describe the concern precisely

Use component | location | appearance across angles | effect on operation. For a closure, a short video of normal opening and closing can answer more than another extreme close-up. Do not ask anyone to scrape the finish or force a mechanism.

If the pictures remain ambiguous, say so. Ask for clarification rather than turning an uncertain highlight into a definite defect. Save the original files and keep the issue separate from unrelated opinions about the bag.
