A size label is a weak comparison when cuts differ. Measuring a hoodie you already like gives the forum a much better starting point.
Prepare the garment
Lay it on a flat surface, smooth obvious folds without stretching the fabric, and photograph the whole garment. State whether it has been washed. A seller’s new garment and your washed hoodie are not identical baselines.
Define each measurement
Measure pit to pit straight across below the armholes. Measure body length from the shoulder near the neck to the hem, explaining the exact starting point. For a set-in sleeve, measure shoulder seam to cuff. For a dropped shoulder or raglan sleeve, show the start point in a photo rather than pretending the numbers are directly comparable.
Share a comparison card
Use tagged size | pit to pit | body length | sleeve method and length | washed or unwashed | desired fit. Keep centimetres and inches clearly labelled. Include tape placement in the photos so others can repeat it.
Do not double a laid-flat width and call it an exact body-size recommendation: ease, stretch and cut still matter. Ask for the same measurement method on the candidate garment. If the seller’s chart uses a different method, resolve that before deciding between sizes.
