We have threads for the Jordan 4 and the Jordan 5, but nothing on the 6, which has its own set of odd parts: the lace lock, the rear spoiler (the pull tab at the heel), the tongue with its cut-outs, the visible Air unit and, on many colourways, a translucent outsole. Like a building with lots of external fixtures, it’s the fittings that give it away more than the walls. Which of these parts is the most telling in QC photos?

Myth check first: “the heel logo tells you everything”. On the 6, the heel branding changes by release: some carry “Nike Air”, others a Jumpman. So is the heel logo a flaw check at all, or just a “right version” check?
Score for the heel logo as a QC check: 4/10. It’s a version check first: compare with the exact release. More telling is the spoiler itself: its shape, its thickness, the angle it sits at, and whether it’s moulded cleanly. A spoiler that’s too upright or too flat changes the heel profile. Summing up so far: version check for the logo, shape check for the spoiler.
- Lace lock: shape, the logo on it, its colour against retail.
- Tongue cut-outs: both openings the same size and shape, clean edges.
- Tongue branding: centred.
- The detail nobody mentions: the lace lock and the tongue are usually photographed from the top only. Ask for a side shot too, because the tongue profile only shows there.

The translucent sole, scored for what photos show:
- Clarity and tint against retail: 6/10, lighting matters a lot.
- The pattern underneath, visible through the rubber: 7/10.
- Air unit window: 8/10; clean edges, no clouding.
- Yellowing over time: not a new-pair QC point. The yellowed midsoles thread covers that.
Second myth, then: “a tinted translucent sole means it’s wrong”. Retail soles can be tinted too, so it’s a compare-with-retail point, not a red flag by itself?
Exactly. The tint varies between releases, so the retail photo of the same release is the only fair reference. The same goes for the side panel perforations and the colour blocking: they change with the colourway.

Good split between version checks and real QC. That’s the part most first-timers mix up.
