Nike Dunk Low Retro "Panda" QC: Swoosh, toe box, heel tab and black panels, what to look for in photos

The black-and-white Dunk Low Retro (“Panda”) is its own colourway check, not a substitute for the general Dunk Low QC thread. Photo points only here. General album reading: reading sneaker QC photos.

Editorial summary, not independently verified.

Order:

  1. Swoosh: clean edge, tip points toward the lacing, distance to the toe box matches left/right.
  2. Toe box: height and perforation row; from above, no strong “pear shape”.
  3. Black panels: edges against the white leather sharp, without colour haze.
  4. Heel tab: Nike stitch centred, tab not crooked to the heel counter.

Newbie question: retail Pandas often look “uneven” in the toe box — when is uneven still normal, when is it conspicuous?

Slight toe-box asymmetry also exists on retail pairs. It becomes conspicuous when one side is clearly higher or the perforation row wanders. Always have both shoes photographed on a flat surface, same camera height. For fixable flaws see sneaker flaws you can fix at home.

Midsole and stitching:

  • upper/midsole transition stitch continuous
  • midsole colour even (flash can fake a yellow cast)
  • inner Swoosh and lining only as a side note

Are box label and size tag a hard RL criterion?

No. Tags are secondary; shape and Swoosh count more. No dealer names in QC replies — see Community Rules.

Panda checklist:

  1. Swoosh shape and placement, compare L/R.
  2. Toe-box height and perforation row; both shoes flat.
  3. Black panels without colour haze at the edges.
  4. Heel tab centred.
  5. Midsole stitch and colour; watch for flash artefacts.
  6. Tags secondary.

All clear — Swoosh and toe box first, tags last.
