Rick Owens Geobasket sizing is confusing me. The shoes are in Italian/EU sizes, the toe looks very long, and the Ramones seem to fit differently again. The version comparison is in the Geobasket and Ramones comparison thread and clothing sizing is in the Rick Owens clothing sizing thread.
So, sneakers only: true to size, or down? And does high vs low change anything?
On feet, a side shot shows the toe length best.

Editorial summary, not independently verified.
Start from the EU number, not the US one. Rick Owens lists shoe sizes in EU sizes; the size table on its own men’s Geobasket page converts EU 38–48 to UK 4–14 and US 5–15 (Rick Owens Geobasket page). Converting from another brand’s US size is where mix-ups happen.
Whether to stay at your EU size or go half down is not verified: the Rick Owens page gives a conversion table, not fit advice. The long toe makes the shoe look longer than it is inside, so measure rather than guess.
The long toe is mostly shape, not room. The toe box extends and tapers, so the shoe looks longer than the space your foot actually uses. That’s why sizing down too far is risky: you lose length where your toes are, not where the shoe looks long.
Measure your foot in mm and compare with the insole length when a size chart lists it. The table on the Rick Owens page lists EU, UK and US sizes only, no foot length in mm; insole length for these models is not verified. The sneaker sizing & fit guide explains how.
And the Ramones? Canvas vs leather?
On the Ramones (fit details not verified, no official fit notes checked):
- Canvas Ramones: canvas generally gives a little with wear, so a snug fit at first can loosen. Which size to pick: not verified.
- Leather Ramones: stiffer, less give than canvas. Between-sizes advice: not verified.
- High vs low: whether they size the same is not verified. Rick Owens’ own pages describe the men’s Geobasket as above-ankle height and the men’s Low Sneaks as under ankle height, with the same EU/UK/US table on both, but give no fit comparison (Geobasket, Low Sneaks).
Wide feet: forefoot width of the Geobasket and the Ramones is not verified; the Rick Owens pages give no width information. Same idea as in the Jordan 4 sizing thread: width problems are solved by width, not length, so going up a size only for width is a trade-off.
One visual point: on the Geobasket, the tongue and the ankle height matter for the look. Sizing down only to make the toe look shorter can make the high-top look stubby on feet.

Thanks. Starting from the EU size and measuring, then.
